Tips for choosing a Spanish school

Languages are one of the most important educational aspects in the world, and not only for children! Adults also focus on learning a new language. However, choosing a Spanish school can be a little more complicated than we imagine. It is important to take into account different aspects in order to find the best one.

Soon we will be in 2020 and... New Year, New Purpose. Learning languages is one of the most repeated purposes of each coming year. That's why we're going to leave you a few tips to choose the Spanish school that best suits your needs.

Tips for choosing a Spanish school

One of the first things to keep in mind are the teachers. Teachers have to be native speakers.  The best option is this or, failing that, that they are bilingual. In addition to being the most appropriate when it comes to mastering a language, thanks to them also know other cultures, other customs, colloquialisms typical of the area ... Pronunciation will be much better. In addition, they must be able to explain the False Friends to you well. However, it is not enough to have the language and the desire. The teacher must have a corresponding training. So don't worry and ask about the teachers' qualifications.

Another important point is to know what type of certificate you will receive when you finish the course. Accreditation is really important, since with it you will be able to demonstrate that you have the necessary level or the one that can demand you in a company. Try to find the Spanish academy that best suits your level. You must be aware of what your real level is, and not choose the one that gives you the highest level.

  • Basic User: A1-Access and A2-Platform.
  • Independent User: B1-Threshold and B2-Advanced.
  • Proficient User: C1-Effective operational mastery and C2-Mastery.

If you don't know what your level is, we recommend that you take an access test where you will find your place.

Each academy has a different teaching method. It does not mean that one is better than the other, but that they are different and perhaps some are more suited to your tastes than others. In our Spanish language school we alternate theoretical classes with practical exercises and conversation classes. The best way to learn a language is to put it into practice, so communication is essential. We also recommend that you ask which books you are going to use in class. Ask the school if you can attend a trial class to see how the teacher teaches.

Class size is also important. The recommended size is between 5 and 15 students. Less than 5 becomes a little private lessons. This makes the possibility of having a conversation and practicing with other students almost nil. On the contrary, if there are too many people in the course, the teacher will not be able to answer all the students' doubts. At the middle point is balance.

The student care service is also important. however, it is often overlooked. if the student care is good, the learning process is simpler. It is also important to check if the tutor is tutoring, if he or she can provide additional material...

And just in relation to the previous point we find some of the most important aspects in a Spanish language school: the facilities. Think that you will spend quite a few hours in the centre. So make sure they have computers, heating or WiFi. It's also good to have a library where you can pick up a book or film in English. So, the teaching is double.
