Spanish phonetics: (Why) is Spanish read the way it is written?
Spanish phonetics , unlike other widely spoken languages such as English and French, it is pronounced exactly the way it is written.
This comes with a few advantages for the learner. One of them being if you see a word written you already know how to pronounce it and another one being, if you hear a word spoken, you already know it is splet! This makes learning new vocabulary through content consumption that much easier.
There are however a few sounds that don’t exist in other languages notably the “ñ” and the “ll” that you will have to learn, but not to worry, once you’ve mastered them there won’t be any more surprises! And, of course, Academia Contacto will help you with Spanish phonetics in any of our Spanish courses.
