Some advantages of a group class to learn Spanish are the following:
First benefit
You become accountable: having peers encourage you to do well. If one day you are a bit less motivated, and you know that they are waiting for you to hand in your part for a group presentation, you will probably feel more responsible to attend. Working with peers include many benefits. And one is succeeding in achieving your goals with like-minded people who are following the same objectives. What we could call, increased motivation from peer support.
As regards daily little moments, it is also nice to develop simple routines like going for a coffee or having a beer when Intensive Spanish class finishes in the afternoon. These habits boost our sense of community. Spanish as Foreign Language learners in this class setup are usually from various countries where Spanish is not the primary language.
Second benefit
- You make new friends. Group Spanish classes are the ideal place to meet new, friendly people from all over the world. You could get to meet people who become your lifelong friends! One never knows who is sitting next to us until we talk to them during the break or when doing a role play for a Conversation class exercise. We have seen initially shy students, become more and more confident as time passes. After class activities are a great way to interact and have fun in a more relaxed environment! Museums, wine tasting, hiking or street art tours are great ways to explore the city and make memories you will remember for years.
Some students create a fun atmosphere by cracking jokes or starting small conversations. All of this makes for fun interaction in the classroom. Our teachers love that and encourage participation from all students. Each with their own personality and traits.
More benefits of group classes
- You follow group dynamics for real life situations. Having between 6-10 students in class, allows you to act out imaginary situations that could happen in a Spanish speaking country in real life. For example, half of the classroom can pretend to “wear a hat” of a certain opinion, and the rest a contradictory one. Each will have to express their agreement or disagreement through examples and facts. When a student is in a group that gives him/her the chance to make mistakes and then receive feedback, it enriches the experience. Opportunities for collaborative tasks and discussions and exposure to multiple accents and dialects will broaden your mind.
Group classes provide an opportunity to practice speaking the target language in a group setting. This can help to build confidence and improve communication skills, as well as provide a chance to make mistakes and receive feedback from the teacher.
